Oscar Benjamin

For the past 20 years, I’ve worked at the cutting edge of digital marketing, starting before the term “digital marketing” even existed. While still in college, I co-founded a business with friends to develop web technology that gamified play counts and drove follower growth for record labels on Myspace. From there, I worked with companies associated with Bebo (AOL) to develop sales tactics specifically related to auto sales, and eventually transitioned to working on the Facebook platform a few years after it was initially released exclusively for college students at Harvard — all before graduating college.

Early in my career, I built hundreds of thousands of social media followers for over two-dozen clients by myself, designed websites, developed creative content, and managed advertising budgets. Within three years of graduating, I had generated over $1.4 million in sales as an independent contractor.

Since that time, I’ve built two consulting businesses, A3 Logic and Node Motion, where I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most influential and largest political organizations in the United States, as well as a wide range of other organizations, including the Social Security Administration, Maximus Federal, Universal Music Group and the National Rifle Association. Alongside managing over $21.5 million in digital advertising budgets, I’ve written proposals, hired and led teams, and developed strategies and high-ROI marketing campaigns across web, connected TV (OTT), influencer, and social media platforms.

I’ve been in the trenches, building businesses, winning contracts, developing strategies, executing campaigns, driving millions in revenue growth, and engaging in every aspect of digital marketing for the past 20 years. I’m not a professional manager sitting on the sidelines.

At this point in my career, my primary focus is on driving innovation in digital marketing through AI and software development. I’ve led the creation of proprietary software for internal use by my team at Node Motion, utilizing the OpenAI and Flux.AI APIs to deliver cutting-edge marketing solutions.

In the past few years, I’ve expanded into the cryptocurrency field, focusing on both Proof of Work and Proof of Stake mechanisms. My operations include BTC (564 TH/s), LTC & Doge (137.4 TH/s), SC (43.2 TH/s), and KDA (108 TH/s) for Proof of Work, as well as SOL, ETH, HNT, ATOM, OSMO, and STRD for Proof of Stake.

I’m currently learning AutoCAD to design watch movements and further explore my passion for watches. I have a background in Computer Science and Economics.

Ventures

I’ve built businesses across various industries, including digital marketing consulting services, crypto mining operations, and even independent record labels. Running my own companies has taught me many valuable lessons, from managing contracts and budgets to leading employees. But perhaps the most crucial part of building a successful business is taking a product or service to market, finding customers or clients, and keeping them by delivering results that competitors can’t.

I find there is no substitute for wagering your own financial security to ensure your own idea succeeds. I have a “skin the game” philosophy that has been proven by the success of my personal business ventures.

"Staking & Mining"

“Staking & Mining” is a privately held cryptocurrency staking and mining operation set to launch in late 2025. We aim to provide clients with opportunities to grow and diversify their financial portfolios by earning a share of the rewards from the cryptocurrencies we stake and mine, while also reducing risks and removing technological challenges. Additionally, we are exploring options to support Real World Assets (RWAs).

Currently, we are mining BTC (564 TH/s), LTC & Doge (137.4 TH/s), SC (43.2 TH/s), and KDA (108 TH/s), and staking/validating SOL, ETH, HNT, ATOM, OSMO, and STRD.

Coming Late-2025

Node motion

Node Motion is a digital marketing and data analysis firm I founded in January 2016. Our core value is “intelligence first, creativity second,” which has allowed us to consistently produce unmatched results. With over 125 years of collective experience across digital marketing, fundraising, and campaign implementation, we’ve secured more than $2.75 million in private, government, and nonprofit contracts, and have managed digital ad budgets exceeding $250,000 per month.

Our expertise includes leveraging cutting-edge AI technology and data mining techniques to optimize digital campaigns for maximum engagement and conversion. As the official digital partner for Maximus Federal (MMS on NYSE), we have been the driving force behind the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program, pioneering paid-digital outreach strategies that far exceed industry standards.

a3 Logic

A3 Logic is a digital enterprise and web consulting firm I co-founded in 2003. I managed a close-knit team of full-time employees and  private contractors. We sold the company through private sale in 2011.

Indie Titan

Indie Titan is an online music platform I co-founded in 2004. The project used a proprietary algorithm and data analysis model to match listeners with music they would love — like an early precursor to Spotify. We sold Indie Titan in 2008.

S1 Inc.

S1 is a music production company I co-founded in 2001. We developed, recorded, mixed, mastered, and distributed music for independent artists around the world. S1 dissolved in 2004.

Thoughts

These blogs provide some insight into the strategy and philosophy behind my work. Throughout my career, I have discovered for myself how the digital realm operates. A lot of what I have learned is counter-intuitive or controversial.

Much of what I cover here is meant to deconstruct popular myths about digital marketing, advertising, and advocacy. These myths persist because of a lack of knowledge in this space — and they are disastrous for companies and organizations trying to engage people online. These blogs are my attempt at sharing some of what I have learned to empower creative leaders and visionaries with the knowledge they need to navigate the digital landscape.

COMPETING FOR THE WORLD’S SCARCEST RESOURCE: ATTENTION (PART 2)

“Competition used to be limited to “direct competitors” within a single market—and the internet burned that idea to the ground. But that was only the first step in the digital revolution that upended the attention economy. While the internet radically transformed the nature of competition, smartphones forever altered the nature of attention itself.”

COMPETING FOR THE WORLD’S SCARCEST RESOURCE: ATTENTION (PART 1)

“Attention fuels the global economy. It is the $360 trillion industry—the sum and source of the world’s wealth. Everything hinges on attention. Buying, selling, trading, inventing, cultivating, conquering, creating. It all depends on an 8-second blip of mental focus called the attention span.”

The Real Dark Web

“Whatever information you crave, the algorithm is specifically designed to churn it out in your Facebook feed, your Google search results, and your top Twitter posts.”

TARGETING IN THE ECHO CHAMBER

“While your competition is crafting content with boring facts no one cares about, you’re serving people your message wrapped in the gossip and groupthink they’re obsessed with. It’s a pretty simple concept. In execution, however… it’s complex.”

DECODING THE SECRET LANGUAGE OF YOUR AUDIENCE

“Your audience immediately disengages because your content betrays you as an outsider. It’s in all the subtleties of syntax, valence, and word choice. Your message is, strictly speaking, comprehensible… but it is not engaging. Why? Because it’s written in a foreign tongue.”

Brand Loyalty is a Myth

“Loyalty is an undying allegiance — “for better or worse… till death do us part.” If that kind of brand fealty was possible, you’d never need to run another ad campaign again. But you do… why?”

ASYMMETRIC WARFARE IN THE BATTLE FOR ATTENTION

“You are in a war for attention. You are flanked by opponents who will steal your most precious resource. Every ounce of attention they win is a loss you suffer.”

Your Annual Review Made Public

“The internet never forgets, and the algorithm never forgives. It knows your history. It knows what your company’s reputation is — not just the polished, curated reviews you post on your website, but ever condescending tweet, snarky Facebook comment, and dismissive Yelp review. And frankly, it doesn’t discriminate. Fact, opinion, hearsay, utter myth… doesn’t matter.”

On Leadership

Responsibility is the core of leadership. The onus of responsibility is decision-making. Failure to make decisions is therefore a dereliction of responsibility and an abandonment of leadership.

A good leader may sometimes make a wrong decision, but he or she will never be paralyzed by indecision. Failure to decide is failure to take responsibility, which is a failure to lead. This is why the status quo is so ruinous to would-be leaders.

Change cannot be avoided. Things will not go on as they are forever. Every successful venture needs a leader who is prepared to act decisively and take responsibility for each decision they make.

On Following Others

Everyone follows someone. No successful leader rushes rogue into the unknown without an inspiration, a teacher, or a guide.

Leaders learn from those who’ve gone before them. But often, people follow others without purpose. Some people follow because they are lost. Some follow because they are afraid to lead. Some follow in hopes of getting close enough to a leader to usurp their position.

There are a lot of bad reasons to follow someone and only one good reason: to learn enough that you can become the leader others will follow.

On Education

Julius Caesar said, “Ut est rerum omnium magister usus.” Experience is the teacher of all things.

I believe there is no greater educator than experience. Education through constant, unceasing learning-by-experience is a hedge against obsolescence in a rapidly changing world.

It is never enough to simply learn facts as they were in some static point in time — education needs to adapt, expand, integrate, and evolve. Only experience fosters that kind of education.

travel

I’ve been lucky enough to visit some amazing places around the world. I started taking photos to share with friends and family, but I got hooked on black and white photography. I’m an amateur, so I’ve gained a much greater appreciation and insight into the craft of the photographers, videographers, and designers I’ve collaborated with over the years.

Reading

These are a few of the books that have inspired, challenged, or disrupted my way of thinking. Every book listed here has had a profound impact on what I believe—on everything from business strategy and risk management to psychological motivations and philosophy of the mind.

I don’t necessarily agree with or embrace everything written in these books, but that’s not what makes reading valuable. I consider these books essential because they’ve challenged and changed my perspective on the world.
